What this means

GOV.UK says a review can involve a review form, supporting information, possible further questions and sometimes another assessment. The outcome letter explains what happens next.

A review can keep an award the same, change it, reduce it or stop it. The result depends on the evidence and decision, not simply on having had PIP before.

If the person lives in Scotland or has moved from Scotland, Adult Disability Payment may be relevant. Check mygov.scot if there is any Scottish connection.

Who this may affect

  • This may affect people who already receive PIP and have received a review letter or review form.
  • It may affect people whose needs have changed, people whose award is due to end, and people who have moved between England, Wales and Scotland.
  • It may also affect people considering whether to challenge a review decision.

What to check officially

  • Check the review form and notes for what to include, where to send it and the return date.
  • Check GOV.UK for the official review process and Citizens Advice for plain-English help with the review form.
  • If a review decision seems wrong, check the mandatory reconsideration process and consider adviser help.
